A while back, I had an idea that, in association with moving my office from one suburban business trailer park to another suburban business office space, I would start blogging about the experience. Not the move itself- anyone who's ever gone through a corporate relocation knows what they're like, and that they're basically all the same- but what it was like to be in the new space, with new equipment, and new perspective.
Funny thing about beginnings. We've been in the building 4 days, most of the fires are out or slowly dying, and I'm finally getting enough time to actually write something down. It's still worth it, I think, if only as notes to someone in a similar space.
I'm an IT manager. And, my 'shop', or group of people are some of the best in the world. And I had a chance, with this relocation, to do things 'right'- new data center from the ground up, properly wired building with a solid relationship to a solid data cabling company. And it makes my life interesting- sometimes, a little 'too' interesting. Welcome to my blog.
